Yesterday I had created a special Samba share which set SMB encryption to ‘mandatory’, for testing purposes.
Today I removed it again, because the risk was great that I might just click on it from my Windows 7 client named ‘Mithral’, and doing so would mess up the client.
So my default assumption for now is, that all my Samba sharing is unencrypted, with the possible exception of what has been requested by the Windows 8 laptop ‘Maverick’, because the default on the server remains
smb encrypt = auto
